e9 Final Reflection

Animation

The animation rotation was where my group first started putting together our ideas and landed on the idea of a mood detecting dog collar.  We started by making sketches of the features we wanted our dog collar to have.  We decided on the red easy removal button, colorful outside, comfortably padded inside, and an adjustable strap.  When it came to creating the collar and its surroundings on Sketch Up, I took on the role of creating 3-D text for the animation, as seen above.  Technically, I learned a lot about the 3-D text feature on Sketch Up I was previously unaware of.  I figured out how to toggle the size of the text and the depth of it, as well as its font.  Professionally, I worked to advocate for my group, being the only extrovert, as I was the one to make sure all the pieces of our animation were able to fit together.  Next time, I will use my time more efficiently in each rotation, and take advantage of the rotation I'm in to get all my work done on time.

Graphic Design

While in the graphic design rotation, we firmly landed on the idea of Pup-E-Motion.  I helped create the word mark for our logo, starting out by trying the product's name in a variety of different fonts.  When we chose the font we liked best, another member of our group worked to finalize the colors and fit it with the icon.  Then I began creating the banner, which is shown above, using our logo, slogan, icon colors, and another font we chose (Cooper Black).  Technically, I used this banner to refresh my skills on Illustrator and Photoshop, as I hadn't worked with them in a while.  Professionally, I again pushed my group to complete all our individual tasks on time, and made sure everyone used their class time wisely to finish all the components.  Again, next time I would work harder in this rotation to finish all my tasks on time.

Web Design

I was mainly in charge of my product's website, but both Abbey and Blake worked in it as well.  Before we started, we gathered all the materials we had worked on in previous rotations and put them into a website folder.  Then, we chose the colors from our logo we would use on our website.  Finally, we put everything together in the actual website, where we each worked on certain areas of it.  Technically, I got more practice with Dreamweaver and how to embed videos.  Professionally, our idea of splitting the project up to get it done quicker was very effective.  Next time, I will think of how I can adapt that technique into future projects.

Video

When we first started brainstorming ideas for our video, we used the Spongebob Training video for inspiration.  Then we storyboarded our ideas for a dog reacting to certain situations to show what color the collar changed to.  While filming, I was the main actor.   For our final video, we incorporated the music from Spongebob and exemplified the testimonial aspect of each of our dog scenarios.  Technically, I worked more with final cut pro ad practiced timing audio with my shots.  Professionally, we worked to combine our ideas in the video and choose who's video would be the final one.  Next time, I hope we get more shots while filming in order to have more to work with while editing.
