Repeat Pattern and Motif

To make my motif, I first used the direct select tool to morph an ellipse.  then I used the rotate tool to rotate it, then I used pathfinder to exclude some parts of the shape.  This motif was so simple to make, and I enjoyed using the skills I acquired on Illustrator to make interesting shapes.

The process for my repeat pattern was similar to my motif.  I started by creating the flower using the rotate tool, and then used option drag to copy it.  I used the pattern maker to make the quadrant pattern feel.  Overall, I learned a lot about repeat patterns and use of white space while doing my repeat pattern.

  2. Your repeat pattern reminds me of the holidays. It's very festive and your motif reminds me of a candy cane.

  3. Your first design is very simple and elegant. Your second design reminds me of a table cloth. I think if you changed the color and spacing it would create a much more comfortable pattern.

  4. I love your Pattern and Motif! It has a kind of winter feeling to it, especially the patten. It reminds me of little snowflakes. I love your Motif. I love the way it rotates around. Good job! :D

  8. I like how your motif has different sections filled in, this is a good idea. The pattern is similar to mine and it is ok, but there is a bit of white space.

  9. I love your pattern! Your motif is really cool too! I love how it gets smaller as it comes towards the center point.

  10. I like your motif a lot! The little "hooked" pieces coming off the very end give it a very nice feel, and the positive and negative space strike the right balance to look great.

The pattern is good, as well! I like how you can look at in multiple different ways and it still looks good. I especially like your spirographic-snowflake sort of shape. It's very good!

  11. I love the motif, but the pattern is very loose which can be a good and bad thing, but at the same time I like it!
